Belated Peabody Report
Even though it hass been a couple of weeks I wanted to write about the Peabody awards which I had the privelidge of attending. They were held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on June 4th. The event was great, really put together well and I got to mingle with many really cool people.
All the UGA Peabody student judges was assigned a “job” for the ceremony and I got to work with the PR firm which handles the event for UGA. It was my job to meet with the recipients and escort them to the press room for their interviews. A short walk but plenty of time to feel really cool.
I think my favorite part of the show was the tribute to winners put together by Image Arts of Atlanta. They did a really good job with it. It was touching, funny and really an awesome tribute. They are setting it up on the Peabody Website and I encourage everyone to view it.
Speaking of Image arts I have to throw in that I watched my hubby in action and learned a valuable networking tool. When in doubt ask….you never know where it will lead. He attended the pre-production with me and managed to talk his way into running a camera for the Peabody’s!! He never ceases to amaze me when he does that.
I did get to chat with Spike Lee, Billie Jean King, BJ Novak among others, which was pretty cool. Overall it was a great experience and I can’t wait till next year. Maybe I will get to participate again, perhaps from a PR perspctive? I have my fingers crossed.
Well, now I am back and it is back to work for me, at least for 12 more weeks!
